Design & Installation to support new research facility

RJ Power Connections successfully secured a contract with Buckingham Healthcare NHS Trust to deliver the design and installation of the contestable works and private network solution to support the new research facility at Wycombe Hospital, Buckinghamshire.

The team provided a fully managed design-and-build offering, self-delivering all installation and required test and commissioning works – managing the design works through long-term supply chain partner Walker & Watts Ltd.

The works involved the establishment of 2No. Metered DNO approved RMUs and a new private HV intake switchboard to provide a dedicated power supply to the new research centre.

The works required careful planning in conjunction with the NHS Trust, our client Prosec Consulting and other key stakeholders to meet the NHS desired project outcome within the required project timeframe.

Challenges & Solutions

Critical planning

Given the nature of the works a detailed programme was developed to incorporate not just the on-site activities but also the other stakeholders’ activities. The programme was administered by the RJ Power Connections team to support our clients’ requirements.

Logistics management

Delivery of plant and equipment is always challenging, however, as some of the delivery points for the GRP units were on stakeholder’s land, this meant that the Connections team had to develop a liaison plan for interfacing with local residents and the NHS Trust. Our approach to stakeholder was to provide an open and honest approach, providing detailed delivery plans and programmes along with rectifying any issue they may have. RJ Power Connections has been consistently praised throughout the contract for its communication with the client and other project stakeholders.
