RJ Power’s bid to improve our impact on the environment
As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment and community engagement, the Evergreen Power Team is taking part in a tree-planting initiative with Trees for Graduates (treesforgraduates.com).
This is an ex-student-led project from the University of Sussex, partnered with local tree-planters, to plant trees along Sussex riverbanks and watercourses, helping to improve water quality and boost biodiversity.
On Sunday, 11th February, RJ Power’s Environmental & Sustainability Manager, Catalina Puentes, and the Trees for Graduates team joined forces to plant around 300 native trees in the Sussex area. They were accompanied by staff from The Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust – an organisation dedicated to the environmental protection and enhancement of the Sussex River Ouse and Adur.
Trees planted included Common Osler, Down Birch, Common Alder, Hornbeam, Hawthorn, Gray Willow, English Oak, among others. The planting was carried out on the banks of the river in Oakview.
‘It was an exhausting but rewarding day – and a great opportunity to enjoy and reconnect with nature,’ says Catalina of the event.
With another tree-planting excursion imminent, this is just one of the ways that RJ Power are giving back to the environment.
