Digitising our electrical network and simplifying switching operations

Paper switching schedules are a thing of the past… we have now gone digital!

One of RJ Power’s most innovative investments to date has been the introduction of Schneider Electric’s PC Mimic Diagram (PCMD) – a Windows-based software tool that creates a simplified model of an electrical network. The model shows circuit-breakers, feeders and other major items of electrical plant and determines each feeder’s live/dead/earthed status, reacting to user-entered switching operations – just like the real network.

Our COMA customers and those who request SAP services will have their system recreated digitally using PCMD, the folders will form part of working customer network folder.

PCMD also allows RJ Power AP’s and SAP’s to compile a switching programme for a customer network prior to completing any form-switching activity, and aids in eliminating any errors before they occur. The program allows us to share the switching schedule for approval with regular AE interaction and is invaluable for the training and development of our future AP’s and SAP’s.

This tool has been a real benefit for our operational staff within the RJ Power Networks business, simplifying switching operations and replacing the need for costly and limited electrical network diagrams.
