£28,387 – £59,044 based on qualifications held, skills and experience

The successful candidate will work as part of the RJ Power Networks Engineering team to deliver a range of jointing, termination and fitter duties across both maintenance and projects works.
EXPERIENCE
- Holds at least a Level 2 NVQ in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering
- Can demonstrate the ability to joint (straight, branch, trifurcation, transition,) and terminate the following cables/conductors:
Multicore LV AC/DC cables for small power and protection circuits
LV Multicore cable for power distribution circuits
LV single core cable for transformer secondary applications
LV PILC cable to XLPE LV cable joint
3kV XLPE 1c and 3c cable
11kV EPR double insulated cable circuits for generator circuits
11kV screened cables for internal dry type transformer connections
11kV Triplex cables
11kV 1c XLPE AWA
11kV 3c XLPE SWA
Has an appreciation of 11kV PICAS cable
11kV PILC cable - Can use cold shrink joint kits on all variants of XLPE cables
- Can use cold shrink termination kits on all variants of XLPE cables
- Able to remove old bitumastic compound from electrical plant
- Able to correctly set out gland plates
- Can demonstrate basic electrical plant knowledge e.g. Power system operation, transformers, switchgear, HV and LV cables, EPO buttons, generators
- Can demonstrate a good knowledge of cable earthing systems and can install copper tape and associated earthing components
- Can demonstrate a detailed knowledge of cable installation procedures in accordance with DNO procedures
- Has an awareness of cable-pulling tensions
- Can correctly apply cold pour insulating mediums (Guroflex and similar products)
- Has a good knowledge of cable minimum bending radii
- Has an appreciation of LV busbar trucking systems
- Has the ability to perform cable conductor insulation resistance testing and sheath testing on 11kV cables
- Has the ability to correctly phase cable systems
- Can demonstrate strong and accurate report writing skills
Job description
- Deliver the installation of Joints (Straight, branch, trifurcation and transition) and Terminations on a wide range of electricity cables up to 11kv
- Follow all published guidelines, standards, policies and procedures to ensure satisfactory completion of work
- Maintain and develop competence level and technical skills to ensure delivery to high standards
- Deliver all works to time and standard in accordance with instructions
- Maintain awareness of the RJ Power Networks Health & Safety policies and rules and keep up-to-date on changes through engaging with Toolbox talks and other sources of information
- Follow the RJ Power Networks Distribution Safety Rules at all times, also taking into account any client or site-specific considerations
- Accurate and timely completion of all mandatory documentation, including job documentation, timesheets, vehicle checks and other compliance requirements
- Always take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others
- Report any concerns regarding safety, health or the environment to your line manager or the HSQE Manager
- Use all machinery, equipment, substances, transport and plant appropriately and in line with company guidance
